    Julian Hiorns, Managing Director

    Julian is a veteran of broadcast engineering having served the industry for over 35 years. He studied Electronics at Southampton going on to join Sony and then the BBC in 1982. Julian founded Brick House Video in 1995 and led the global market in small compact field vision mixers, launching the first portable digital SDI vision mixer, the Callisto P, in 2004.

    Julian is a key member of the team delivering BHV capability, being the company’s specialist in analogue and baseband digital switching, power supply design, and power and battery management.

  • Bill Garrett

    Bill Garrett, Chief Technology Officer

    Bill is a professionally recognised engineer having a bachelor and master’s degree in electronics and software engineering but who has also spent time in the broadcast industry, primarily at the BBC, as a journalist and producer. He has moved seamlessly between the skills of production and engineering which has enabled him to deliver large projects for key brands such as the BBC, SBS(Australia), Mediacore (Singapore) and ABC(Australia). Bill is also a key member of the design capability, specialising in software and hardware design primarily in areas of digital video (baseband and IP), wireless systems and software defined solutions.

  • Lodewijk Jansen

    Lodewijk Jansen, Director

    As Director of BHV BV, Lodewijk Heads our European fulfilment operations based in the Netherlands. He has over 20 years experience running commercial supply operations to the broadcast industry on mainland Europe.

    Lodewijk is also a key force behind Telequip, a company active in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg that represents several manufacturers of audio and video products for the broadcast and professional AV market. Telequip has more than 20 years experience as a leading provider of subtitling products for broadcast and DVD authoring environment, teletext systems, teletext subtitling, field production systems, signal processors, compact video, audio and optical converters, spg’s, scan converters. Telequip supplies to TV stations, National and Regional Broadcasters, Cable / VOD media providers, video production companies and universities.

  • Max Hunter

    Max Hunter, Associate Director Software Engineering

    Max Hunter is a hardware and software designer and experienced A/V systems designer. After graduating with a BSc in Physics from Imperial College, he worked at University College London in an experimental neuroscience laboratory, designing software and hardware to obtain, process and organise petabytes of data from multisensory audiovisual experiments.

    His career in live sound has taken him around the world, being involved with the audio systems at high-profile concerts for Adele, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Pearl Jam, and many more. With a varied and diverse technical background, Max is involved in the whole product lifecycle from initial concept and firmware design through to end-user integration.

  • John Lock

    John Lock, Territory Development Manager, Asia Pacific

    John has worked in the broadcast industry for over 42 years. Starting off as an operator with the ABC, he experienced all aspects of broadcast operations before pivoting to engineering. As an engineer, John was the key digital signal processing developer with the ABC's digital design group, creating an audio editing system which sold world-wide. He progressed to coding sports scoring systems completely contained in a briefcase PC, creating graphics and maintaining database information, and installable in any OB van. This experience led to working with the Olympic broadcaster for Sydney 2000, where he was responsible for managing data suppliers and on-screen scoring systems. John transitioned studios and editing from SD to HD, playout systems from tape to server, then led teams converting from SDI to IP. John currently leads development of software defined video processing components. Passionate about the ongoing development of and fellowship within the broadcast industry, John has been a member of the SMPTE Australia Board Of Management for 6 years, receiving a Citation of Outstanding Service for his contribution as a Section Manager.
