BHV View is the thread of technologies which manage video products; these can include the rendering, transmission or display of moving images in all film, broadcast and production formats. We specialise in the conversion of format and frame rates, and signal type preparation such as SDI, HDMI or Internet Protocol encapsulation/de-encapsulation. Video essence and audio signals can be managed for applications including graphics rendering, monitor displays, video walls, video conversion and switching. In most cases, designs are “single chip” solutions taking up little physical footprint and using minimal power.

View employs BHV’s considerable intellectual property in the design of video hardware. This comprises frame rate, format conversion and rendering technologies that can produce, package and display standard and non-standard video signals for equipment such as graphic production appliances, signal/format converters, switchers/mixers, display and video walls.

  • Enabling the production of compliant video signals up to BT.1120 (1920 x 1080 pixels) and the DCI 2K cinema standard (2048 x 1080 pixels) our render engine can easily scale and format video and audio signals to then be serialised and packaged into Analogue, HDMI, SDI, and IP (SMPTE and NDI) video/audio transport. We can handle all standard framerates including non-integer standards used in broadcast and film. We are also able to process and produce high framerates up to 120 fps in full HD. We can also scale up to UHD/4K in both 6Gb/s and 12Gb/s formats in baseband and IP transport and 18 Gb/s HDMI.

We can provide completed custom designs, finished printed circuit boards for customer integration or completed product in finished enclosure.

    openGear

We have a “ready to go” openGear platform allowing customers to realise broadcast and Pro AV applications in extremely short development timeframes. Applications such as studio contribution, streaming, studio/gameshow and presentation graphics can easily be supported. The openGear card’s processor module can support Linux and Android operating systems. The card supports dual mode 1 Gb/s IP connectivity allowing networking via openGear rear panel or via openGear frame’s internal Gigabit Ethernet switch. Support is available for customer defined integration into DashBoard, the openGear frame management software suite. (pic hints OG card, DashBoard, OG Frame)

  • Offering full BT.1120 and DCI 2K capability and colour processing in either 4:2:2 or 4:4:4, we have single chip solutions for display applications such as monitors and display walls, these can provide direct LVDS & MIPI-DSI drive to LCD display panels of all CEA and VESA shapes and sizes. This enables the design of broadcast, consumer, industrial and military flat panel displays.

Picture-in-Picture/Picture-over-Picture and various other display functions such as flip/reverse, A 2D OSD graphics layer supporting bitmap and character modes is included as standard and is typically used for settings and navigation menus.

The panels themselves can by high brightness, greater than 2000 cd/m2 (2000 nits) suitable for all applications including, indoor, outdoor and reflected display. Our designs include support technologies including power supplies.

Typical applications can be display and user interface integration into appliances such as control surfaces or specialist application monitors which require other peripheral capabilities in a single device.

  • Catering for BT.2020 and BT.2100, BHV have solutions for both 6Gb/s and 12Gb/s UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) and 4K (4096 x 2160 pixels) formats, providing support in all framerates up 60/fps with 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 colour processing in 8/10/12 bit channel resolution.

Our implementations are comprehensive System-on-Chip (SoC) video processing providing 3D LUT for colour management or colour transformation for HDR (High Dynamic Range).

We can scale up or down between video and offer effects such as image flip reverse, rotation and warping. A high performance 2D/3D and block noise reduction is available as well as colour keying, overlap area edge blending, uniformity correction. We even have video waveform monitor and vectorscope capability.

This comprehensive set of functionality, available through our “single chip” ASIC option, provides economic SoC option for multi-viewers, vision mixers, digital video effects, video keyer, format conversion and scaling hardware applications.

  • Two options are available for the display of UHD and 4K formats, downscale and pixel for pixel.

Downscale: provides an economic route for native 6Gb/s and 12 Gb/s environments but utilising economic scaling technologies and LCD panels for display. This allows for monitors and displays to show a 4K/UHD signal but not embody the cost of a full 4K panel. Offering LVDS panel drive it is particularly useful in studio floor monitors and multi-viewers.

Pixel for Pixel: provides a video path for full HD signals through to a full 4096x2160 or 3840x2160 LCD or OLED display panel. Offering V-by-One and eDP output for panel drive this path allows both SDR and HDR colour management options.

Both Downscale and Pixel for Pixel options offer significant picture manipulation functionality such image flip/reverse, noise reduction, digital zoom and 2D graphics layer support.

We can help clients of ranging knowledge realise their video application needs, whether they are a product specialist needing technical support or you are a software or hardware developer requiring design and manufacturing capability. We can even advise on product roadmap with an eye toward trends in the video marketplace.

Our solutions are usually single chip and allow flexibility to cater for specific technical and commercial product needs. We have a mix of implementations which include Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Our graphics rendering hardware is based on software defined Linux environments based usually on NXP iMX6 and iMX8 processors.
